Our club had its first open public social gathering in over ten years, hosted by the model railroad club at Leisure World. The meeting was a way of our group getting its toes wet as we continue to search for a permanent space. We hope to have more meetings in the future and hope to see you there!
Thanks to everyone who helped out and participated in any way.
Rockville Model Railroad Society (RMRRS) will be holding a public meeting on July 31st, 2018 at 7:30pm in Silver Spring, MD.
On hand will be members of the club and we will be having some hands-on demos, presentations, videos and socializing. Try your hand at our timesaver switching layout or check out a demo of the newest Bachmann EZ-app equipped Bluetooth locomotives controlled via smartphone! Meet some of the members and enjoy some railroad related videos and discussion. Light refreshments will be served. If you have any questions, please email us at email@example.com
We will be hosted by the Leisure World model RR club. Here are directions:
The model railroad club in Leisure World is located in the basement of Club House 2:
Meetings are held in one of the first floor meeting rooms in Club House 2.
If visiting Leisure World, there are three entrances into the community.
SOUTH: Connecticut Avenue entrance. Connecticut Avenue ends in Leisure World. Tell the guard you are going to Club House 2 for the model train meeting or show. After entering the community make the first RIGHT. Club House 2 will be on your left a couple of miles down the road. The clubhouse is on your left at the corner of Leisure World Blvd and Norbeck BLVD.
NORTH: Norbeck Blvd entrance. The Norbeck Blvd entrance is off Norbeck Road (Route 28 – Route 198) just east of the intersection of Georgia Ave and Norbeck Road. This entrance is close to the Intercounty connector interchange with Georgia Ave. Tell the guard you are going to Club House 2 for the model train meeting or show. Clubhouse 2 is straight-ahead if you come in the Norbeck gate.
WEST: Georgia Avenue entrance. The Georgia avenue gate is the main entrance to the community. The big globe of the world located on Georgia Avenue is the location of the entrance to the community. Greetings everyone! We have decided to break out of the old and into the new. Our old website was stale, misinformed and generally horrible. It was born out of boredom about 8 years ago and really never grew any farther. We’ve had a constant stream of comments from folks trying to get information on the club and that site did nothing to help except give them our email address. Even that was questionable.
So welcome to the 21st century, RMRS! This site is a long time coming and we hope that we can keep you up to date on the goings on of the club. Feel free to subscribe to our Twitter feed and the RSS feed for this site. Updates may not come fast and furious but you can be sure that if there is news that is where you’ll find it!
A note of housekeeping: our club is a public club and we welcome new members, however, since we do not have a public club space to host meetings we are doing round-robin style meetings at various members’ homes. These meetings are generally private and we ask your patience during this transitional time. We do occasionally have public meetings and open houses, so please contact us via email (found on the Contact page) for more info.
Thanks for finding us and we hope you can join us for some of the world’s greatest hobby!
