The Rockville Model Railroad Society (RMRS) is a a 501c3 non-profit organization founded in 2004 by the merging of the Gaithersburg Model Railroad Society and the Maryland Central Model Railroad Club. Currently the club does not have a home and we are actively seeking out space to house a permanent layout and meeting area. Unfortunately at this time we are not hosting public meetings. Occasionally we will have a table at a local train show or event. We have a diverse group, modeling in nearly all popular scales and subjects.
Officers are elected yearly at the club’s annual business meeting in April/May. Officers carry out duties essential to the ongoing operations of the club. Additionally, when active, the club has various working committees that carry out the day-to-day club activities. These include: Layout Design, Electrical, Scenery, Membership, and so on. Members are free to join these committees to either learn new skills or to put their existing talents to best use.
A Word About Donations
We will gladly accept donations or let our club members know about items for sale if provided with clear and specific information and/or photos of the items along with contact information and phone number or email address.
Alternatively, unwanted model trains and related equipment can be sold through classified ads, local papers, yard sales, or online via eBay or Craig’s List.
As a non-profit organization, RMRS does not buy model railroad items or collections.
